Reflexology #01

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a wonderfully relaxing complementary therapy that is suitable for virtually everyone. Reflexology works on pressure points on the feet, helping clear blocked energy channels and stimulating and encouraging the body to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance.

It is said that 70% of illness is stress related. Reflexology reduces stress by generating a deep sense of relaxation, during which time the body is able to rebalance itself and allow for more efficient healing.

Reflexology does this by inducing:

  • Deep muscle relaxation which reduces tension
  • Improved cardiovascular and lymphatic circulation
  • The release of endorphins to reduce pain.
  • A rare chance to have an hour's relaxation.

    What Conditions Can Reflexology Help?

Although Reflexology does not claim to cure any condition, many different conditions have been helped very successfully including:-

  • Stress and anxiety
  • Insomnia
  • Depression
  • Balancing the hormones of pregnancy
  • PMT/PMS/Menopausal symptoms
  • Back pain
  • Sinus Problems
  • Headaches
  • Constipation/IBS
  • Skin conditions
  • Fluid retention
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Poor Immunity

Reflexology is a complementary therapy and can therefore work alongside any conventional medicine. However, it is always a good idea to consult with your GP if you are currently receiving medical care.

    What Happens During a Treatment?

You will remain fully clothed except for your feet and lie in my special reclining Lafuma Reflexology chair. Before the initial treatment, I will take a thorough consultation to ensure the treatment is specifically tailored for you. I will then work on pressure points on your feet which relate to points of your body for about 50 minutes to an hour.

How Many Treatments will I Need?

A feeling of deep relaxation can be obtained with just one session. However, most clients find a course of five or six treatments has amazing results. Many clients then choose to have a top up treatment every 4 to 6 weeks to maintain their health.

Treatment plans will vary from client to client.
